Managing your Nixplay plan and content: what you need to know

Nixplay offers three levels of subscription, each offering different storage levels and access to enhanced features. Your ability to enjoy your cherished memories can be enhanced through a subscription, and you can see the limits of each plan in our article here.

What happens if my usage exceeds my plan’s limits?

If your content exceeds the limits of your current Nixplay plan, we’ll notify you and provide tools to help you manage it effectively.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Upgrade Your Plan: If you need more storage or access to enhanced features, you can upgrade to Lite or Plus to unlock additional capacity and functionality.

  • Manage Your Content: Use the tools provided in your Nixplay App to trim or remove content, such as older photos or longer videos, to align with your current plan’s limits.

Older content that exceeds your limits will not be available to display on your frame and share until you take action, but rest assured, none of your content will be deleted. It’s important to note that limits have existed since early 2022 but were not always enforced. To ensure a consistent and fair experience for all users, we no longer allow limits to be exceeded.

What if my content appears locked?

If some of your content is inaccessible, here’s how to regain access:

  • Exceeding storage limits: If your total storage exceeds the limit of your current plan, older content will appear locked. To resolve this, you can:

    • Remove excess content to bring your storage within your current plan’s limits. This can be done via the manage section within the app - to learn more click here

    • Renew or upgrade your subscription to unlock all content.

  • Video duration limits: Videos uploaded with lengths exceeding the limits of your current plan will appear locked. To regain access, you can:

    • Trim videos to fit the duration allowed in your current plan. This is easy to do within your Nixplay app.

    • Renew or upgrade your subscription.

  • Shared Content: Locked content shared with others will no longer be viewable to them within their app or on their frames. Unlocking your content will restore their access too.

    • Shared content may be locked because you have exceeded a limit such as those above. Reducing your storage used, trimming locked videos etc will make the content viewable by those you’ve shared it with so they can continue to enjoy it.

    • Alternatively, you can renew your subscription or choose another suitable plan.

  • Third-Party Integrations: If your previous plan included integrations with Google Photos or Dropbox, these will no longer synchronize under a reduced plan. For example:

    • If your previous plan allowed unlimited albums with 2,500 photos each and you had 10 albums linked, but your current plan permits only 1 album, 9 albums will no longer synchronize.

  • Renewals and Upgrades: Upon renewal or upgrading, all albums will re-synchronize and become fully available again.

What happens when your subscription ends?

We recognize that lapsed subscriptions can be unintentional but don't worry - we’ve got you covered. We don’t delete your content and you can easily manage it through our app.

When your subscription nears its end, you’ll receive reminders to renew. If your subscription expires:

  • Access to enhanced features: Features such as extended video lengths, unlimited storage, and advanced integrations such as Google Photos will no longer be available.

  • Locked content: Content exceeding the current plan’s limits e.g., video duration or total storage will not be available to share or view on your frame. This content will remain safe and automatically unlock upon renewal or purchase of a new subscription.

  • Shared Content: Anyone you have shared locked photos or videos with will also be unable to access them in their app, photo frames or on their smart TV.
